Canzona Women’s Ensemble holds auditions each summer and winter for our fall and spring concerts. Experienced female choral singers who would like to be considered for the group should request an audition below. We will hold auditions for the Fall 2024 concert on August 15th in San Luis Obispo and August 17th in Shell Beach.
Canzona holds a unique place in the community as a champion of choral music for women’s voices. The non-profit is a selective, auditioned ensemble that includes 28-32 women from around the county. Our mission is to further a love and appreciation for women’s choral literature, to expand this literature by commissioning original pieces, and to present the music with consistent excellence.

Audition FAQs
When and Where Does Canzona Rehearse?
Canzona Women's Ensemble rehearsals are held between 7:15-9:45 pm on Thursdays in SLO when preparing for concerts. Fall rehearsals run from September through the November concert, and spring rehearsals run from January through the March concert. We also hold one all-day Saturday retreat each semester.
Canzona currently rehearses at both Laguna Middle School and United Church of Christ in San Luis Obispo. The rehearsal venue is subject to change each season. Concert week rehearsals are held at the San Luis Obispo United Methodist Church.

How much are singer dues?
Singer dues are $50 for each concert semester. Singers are also responsible for assembling their own concert attire. Music is provided by Canzona Women's Ensemble at no additional cost.
When and Where are Canzona Concerts held?
Canzona performs on one of the first two Sundays in November and March - usually on the same date as time change! San Luis Obispo United Methodist Church is our current performance venue, located at 1515 Fredericks Street, SLO.
